Spring is in the air!

Máiri Mór nan Óran
It's been a long, cold and very wet winter here on the Isle of Skye! So it is with an immense feeling of relief that we are finally getting to see the first signs of Spring appearing on our beautiful Island.

Frogspawn
The weather this week has been more like summer so we have been making the most of it here at Ten10 Creations! It has been great to be able to do odd jobs outside, get endless loads of washing line dried and to enjoy some lovely long walks. On one such walk we were delighted to discover some frog spawn in an unused well. The well was built in memory of a local woman known as Máiri Mhór nan Óran, which in English translates as Big Mary of the Songs. She was a 19th century Skye poet who lived, and is buried very near to our workshop.  Just last week on 8th March (International Women's day) I was pleasantly surprised to see that she had topped a twitter poll of the most outstanding women in Scottish history! You can find out more about Máiri here.

The colours and textures that we see all around us on this rugged, yet beautiful Island are very reminiscent of the textures and tones in the many different tweeds that we work with for our creations.  The bright, spring like weather has been echoed in our bright, bold colourful range of saddle bags. These quirky, yet practical bags will give you a spring in your step and definitely make you forget about the dark winter days!
